Boom Truck Operators – 8 Positions

Job description

Brooke Consultancy Limited is recruiting eight Boom Truck Operators for a major two-year mining and construction project at Katende in Kasai Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
• Valid Class C or appropriate PSV/Heavy Vehicle driving licence, depending on vehicle classification and local requirements
• Valid Boom Truck or Truck-Mounted Crane Operator Certificate
• At least three years’ experience operating boom trucks, preferably in mining, construction or industrial environments

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
• Safe operation of truck-mounted cranes and boom trucks
• Vehicle pre-start inspections
• Boom and stabiliser/outrigger operation
• Load handling and positioning
• Understanding safe working loads and load charts
• Basic rigging and slinging procedures
• Safe parking and positioning
• Working around overhead electrical lines and other hazards
• Daily equipment inspection and defect reporting

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Valid medical-fitness certificate
• Clean driving record
• Good understanding of road-safety regulations
• Ability to work shifts and extended hours when required
• Knowledge of mine-safety procedures is an advantage
