An established group of companies with offices in Durban is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team. The purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the full finance administration function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, effective debtor and creditor management, and compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements. The role is also responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and supporting informed financial decision-making within the business.
Main Responsibilities:- Manage the administration operations
- Manage and oversee the overall finance function including cashbook preparation, debtors and creditors management, month-end journal processing, and maintenance of Accpac system.
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Compile daily, monthly and annual statistical and financial reports.
- Perform and review debtor’s reconciliations and ageing reports, creditors reconciliations and payment schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor and manage debtor collections, credit limits, and payment terms, and assist with recovery of debtors on behalf of Traders.
- Authorise creditor payments and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of payroll input, including salaries, wages and commissions, support submission to Group Payroll, review remuneration reports for accuracy, and assist with processing of the payment file.
- Prepare VAT reconciliations, support tax compliance and other statutory returns.
- Assist with external audits and ensure audit readiness of financial records.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy and reporting quality.
- Identify process improvements, strengthen internal controls and risk management processes.
- Support adhoc financial projects and management requests.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications/Competencies:- Matric or equivalent required.
- BComm Accounting qualification (SAIPA qualification essential)
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Financial Accounting role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes
- Working experience of Accpac - essential
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Working Hours- 06h00 – 14h00 - Candidates must therefore be comfortable working early operational hours.
