About the Role – Manufacturing Technician Jobs in Kitwe As an Underground Sandvik Rock Tools (SRT) Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the servicing of Sandvik’s Rock Tool Supply Performance Contract. Based at NFCA, Chambeshi, your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with operating procedures, policies, and contractual requirements while working on a 4-days-on, 4-days-off schedule with 12-hour shifts.

Occasional overtime may be required to meet operational demands. Key Responsibilities Deliver rock tools and related products to designated sites daily, ensuring timely and efficient service.

Retrieve worn and damaged rock tools from drill sites and transport them to the surface for detailed assessment. Analyze tool conditions and failures, collaborating with operators to identify improvements and solutions.

Maintain stock levels on each rig by replenishing supplies from buffer stores as needed. Conduct failure analyses of defective products and report issues to the Contract Supervisor or Sales Representative.

Use the Sandvik Report App to record and share operational data for advanced analysis. Perform sorting, gauging, cutting back, grinding, and color-coding of used drill bits.

Refurbish blocked and bent rods to meet operational standards. Qualifications and Skills Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent qualification.

Craft Certificate of Competence, Advanced Technician Certificate, or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a related technical role.

Basic computer literacy and proficiency with specialized reporting software. Fluent English communication skills.

Full physical and medical certification to work in a mining environment. Strong technical aptitude in refurbishing rock tools including grinding, cutting, and straightening.

Experience analyzing mechanical failures and recommending corrective actions. Familiarity with stock management principles.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working underground with heavy equipment and a strong commitment to safety. Current site inductions are an advantage.

Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with operators and supervisors. Familiarity with Sandvik drilling products, on-site service contracts, and underground mining operations will be highly valued.
