Mechanical Engineer (GMR 2.1)

A leading animal feed and agricultural manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in engineering leadership, maintenance systems, CAPEX project management, CAD drawings, asset management, and statutory compliance to join their team in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring engineering compliance, improving maintenance effectiveness, supporting operational excellence, and managing mechanical projects within a high-volume industrial processing environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as the appointed GMR 2.1 for the facility
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and engineering standards
  • Manage mechanical maintenance systems and asset management processes
  • Analyse maintenance trends and KPIs to improve reliability and cost control
  • Drive planned and preventative maintenance initiatives
  • Support and manage CAPEX and infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate contractors, technical evaluations, and project execution
  • Manage and maintain CAD drawings and engineering documentation
  • Ensure accurate document control and as-built drawing updates
  • Support risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions
  • Provide technical engineering support across multiple sites when required
  • Assist with maintenance reporting and operational engineering governance
Requirements:
  • BTech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience within an industrial, manufacturing, or processing environment
  • Strictly requires GMR 2.1 experience
  • Strong experience with maintenance systems and asset management
  • Experience with CMMS platforms (Pragma preferred)
  • Experience with CAPEX projects and project management
  • Strong understanding of CAD systems and engineering documentation
  • Knowledge of South African OHSA requirements relating to machinery and engineering
  • Strong analytical, technical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Willingness to travel between sites when required
