Our mission is rooted in Christian faith, guiding our efforts to help children overcome poverty and thrive, even in the most challenging environments. We are currently recruiting Local Fixed Term Employees to support a maternal health research project in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities for Research Officer Positions Data Collection & Management:

  • Assist with household mapping and recruit women aged 18-45 across study villages.
  • Conduct baseline and follow-up surveys on maternal health-seeking behaviors, expenditures, and birth preparedness.
  • Collect and verify data from antenatal care cards, maternity registers, and community health worker reports.
  • Ensure accurate data entry, cleaning, and secure storage according to project protocols.

Implementation Monitoring:

  • Administer fidelity assessment checklists to Savings Group leaders and Community Health Worker supervisors by phone or in person.
  • Document barriers and facilitators impacting intervention adoption and sustainability.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews and focus group discussions with key community stakeholders.

Community Engagement:

  • Support Community Agents and Health Workers in delivering behavioral encouragement interventions to Savings Groups.
  • Liaise with village leaders, health workers, and group members to facilitate smooth project implementation.
  • Participate in community sensitization to raise awareness about research objectives.

Project Coordination:

  • Track timelines, deliverables, and work plans.
  • Assist with budget monitoring at the Area Development Programme level.
  • Provide regular updates on field activities and challenges.
  • Organize logistics for trainings, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Prepare field findings summaries and reports for internal review.
  • Qualifications and Experience Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Demography, Development Studies, Public Health, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience in community-based research is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse community stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in Tonga language is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and data synthesis skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity to rural norms and practices.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with Community Health Workers, Savings Group leaders, and research teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs and environments.
  • Experience with data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R, Power BI, or NVivo is a plus.
