This opportunity is based at the RDA Head Office in Lusaka and offers a full-time role for candidates interested in advancing their careers within the accountancy sector. About the Road Development Agency Established under the Public Roads Act No.
12 of 2002 (as amended), the RDA oversees the care and development of Zambia’s road network. The Agency regulates permissible road weights, conducts studies to improve road infrastructure, and reviews design standards to ensure safety and efficiency throughout the country’s public roads.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Accountant Roles in Lusaka Reporting directly to the Accountant – Consultants, the Assistant Accountant – Consultants will play a vital role in managing consultant payments and financial records.
Core duties include:
Reviewing and processing Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) for consultants.
Ensuring timely payment processing for consultants within the SUN financial system.
Reconciling consultant ledger accounts to maintain accuracy.
Matching RDA consultant transactions against NRFA records for consistency.
Collaborating with internal and external auditors regarding consultant balances.
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports highlighting outstanding payables to consultants.
Performing additional duties as assigned to support the Finance Directorate.
Qualifications and Experience Required for Assistant Accountant Jobs in Lusaka Full Grade 12 Certificate.
A Degree in Accounting, ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of three (3) years relevant accounting experience.
Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is mandatory.
Skills and Attributes Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Innovative thinker with sound planning abilities focused on measurable outcomes.
Prudent and practical approach to driving change and achieving consensus.
Proficient in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
