Excavator Operator Jobs in Kalumbila As an Excavator Operator, you will play a vital role supporting the Aggregate crusher section by managing stockpiled materials, selecting appropriate materials, and performing other duties as directed by the Crusher Supervisor.
Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough prestart and post-operation inspections of excavators, maintaining machine cleanliness and safety standards, and promptly reporting any mechanical defects or unsafe conditions.
You will ensure proper material management and water drainage, adhere to safety protocols, and execute work instructions efficiently. This role demands a proactive approach to equipment operation and maintenance, contributing to smooth and safe site operations.
Key Responsibilities Perform prestart and post-operation inspections of excavators. Maintain high standards of machine housekeeping and safety.
Report mechanical defects and unsafe conditions immediately to supervisors. Manage stockpiled materials correctly in coordination with the crusher section.
Ensure proper water drainage as directed. Follow all applicable safety procedures and operational guidelines.
Operate two-way radios and modular communication systems effectively. Complete any additional tasks assigned by the Crusher Supervisor.
Candidate Profile and Competencies The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a thorough understanding of excavator controls, pre-start procedures, defect identification, and emergency shutdown protocols.
Experience operating heavy earthwork machinery in mining environments is essential. You should be flexible to work various shifts, demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery in mining or construction. Good knowledge of machine parts, controls, and operational safety.
Ability to follow instructions precisely and work independently. Strong attention to detail and personal accountability.
Effective time management and active listening skills. Self-driven with the ability to adapt to changing work schedules.
Qualifications Full Grade 12 School Certificate. Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience.
All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
