The Superintendent - Contracts will be based at Kansanshi Mining Plc and report directly to the Manager Commercial within the Commercial Department’s Contracts section. The primary purpose of this role is to enhance value delivery by managing procurement and inbound supply chain services that support mining, processing, and smelting operations.

The role is pivotal in driving commercial discipline, improving contract coverage, supplier management, and streamlining contract processes as part of an ongoing transformation journey. Maintain strategic and critical supplier contracts, ensuring contract coverage and timely renewals. Draft and enforce quality supplier contracts with clear, enforceable clauses.

Build strong relationships with key Heads of Departments, providing expert commercial advice. Lead initiatives to improve contracting processes, driving efficiency and risk mitigation.

Collaborate on procurement strategy development, conducting market research and risk analysis. Manage supplier evaluation, selection, and performance measurement to optimize outcomes.

Lead negotiations with suppliers and strategic partners, overseeing contract execution and tender processes. Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, leading by example to uphold zero-tolerance safety standards.

Provide ongoing reporting, training, and support to the commercial and operational teams. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in commercial, engineering, commerce, or law disciplines (verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority).

Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing or supervising commercial/contracts teams in resource or asset-intensive sectors. Proven expertise in end-to-end category management and delivering measurable value.

Strong negotiation skills and experience drafting and managing complex contracts. Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.

Experience operating within international contexts and virtual teams is highly desirable. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Preferred membership in relevant statutory or professional bodies.
