About the Accounts Payable Officer Role Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant – Accounts Payable, the successful candidate will ensure the accurate, timely processing of supplier invoices and payments in compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
You will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes. As an Accounts Payable Officer, you will embody Barrick’s core values by communicating transparently, acting with integrity, delivering results, and fostering sustainable partnerships.
Key Responsibilities Review, verify, and process supplier invoices promptly and accurately using SAP. Match invoices with purchase orders and goods received notes to ensure accuracy before processing.
Enter and post invoices within 48 hours of receipt against approved purchase orders. Reconcile monthly vendor statements with company records and resolve discrepancies.
Coordinate with Supply Chain, Finance, end-users, and vendors to address invoice and payment issues. Process approved manual payments and monitor payment completion within 48 hours.
Generate and analyze Accounts Payable reports to support financial reporting. Perform weekly GR/IR account analysis and initiate corrective actions for outstanding items.
Maintain positive supplier relationships and respond professionally to vendor inquiries. Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and statutory regulations.
Maintain organized and complete documentation and filing systems for Accounts Payable. Support audit activities by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Recommend process improvements and support automation initiatives. Monitor key performance indicators related to safety, service delivery, and productivity.
Prepare and submit accurate performance reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor. Adhere strictly to company health, safety, environmental, and ethical standards.
Candidate Requirements for Accounts Payable Officer Jobs in Kalumbila Full Grade 12 School Certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a recognized institution.
Full membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). At least two years’ relevant experience in accounts payable, finance, or accounting roles, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
Proven experience in invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment administration, and vendor management. Proficiency with ERP systems, especially SAP, and Microsoft Office applications, notably Excel.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to reconcile financial records and resolve discrepancies effectively.
