Position Summary

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and productive operation of concrete pumps while supporting construction activities through the operation of other construction plants and machinery where required. The role demands exceptional technical competence, commitment to safety, equipment care and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate truck-mounted and stationary concrete pumps safely and efficiently.
  • Plan, set up and dismantle concrete pump pipelines and accessories.
  • Coordinate concrete placement with site engineers, foremen and batching plant personnel.
  • Inspect pumping equipment before, during and after operations.
  • Monitor concrete quality to ensure smooth pumping and minimise blockages.
  • Carry out daily servicing, lubrication and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Identify mechanical faults and report repair requirements promptly.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper storage after use.
  • Complete daily equipment inspection and operational records.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
  • Observe all company safety, environmental and quality management procedures.
  • Minimise equipment downtime through proper handling and maintenance.
  • Assist in training junior operators and equipment assistants.
  • Support project teams to achieve production targets and timely completion of works.
  • Additional Multi-Skilled Plant Operation

Applicants with proven experience operating one or more of the following equipment will have a distinct advantage:

Education

  • KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
  • Technical or vocational training in heavy equipment or plant operation is highly desirable.
  • Additional mechanical or engineering qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Professional Training

Preference will be given to candidates with training in:

  • Concrete pump operation
  • Heavy construction plant operation
  • Preventive equipment maintenance
  • Occupational Safety and Health OSH
  • First Aid
  • Fire safety
  • Defensive driving

Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience operating concrete pumps on medium to large construction projects.
  • Proven experience working on multi-storey buildings, commercial developments or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience operating additional heavy construction machinery.
  • Good knowledge of concrete placing techniques and pumping procedures.
  • Experience working with batching plants and concrete production teams.
  • Strong understanding of equipment servicing and fault reporting.
  • Excellent safety record.
