About First Quantum Minerals and the Role As a Data Analyser reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will collaborate closely with business and operational leaders to leverage data-driven insights that enhance process performance.
Your expertise will support strategic decision-making through statistical modeling, machine learning, and visualization techniques applied to complex metallurgical process data. You will play a key role in optimizing process plant productivity and efficiency, contributing directly to throughput, grade, recovery, safety, quality, and cost improvements.
Key Responsibilities for Data Analyser Jobs in Solwezi Develop a comprehensive understanding of metallurgical processes, ensuring safety and effectiveness. Manage and optimize process control systems to enhance operational efficiency.
Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve recovery rates and concentrate quality. Provide technical guidance to maintenance and operations teams; maintain databases, reports, and monthly statistics.
Conduct large-scale experimentation and develop data-driven models to solve business challenges. Analyze process behavior to detect slowdowns and bottlenecks using data analytics.
Update mass balances, process flow diagrams, and instrumentation schematics. Apply advanced statistical and visualization techniques to enrich data products.
Deploy, maintain, and enhance statistical and machine learning models in production environments. Map data sources to common data model schemas and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Generate online dashboards tailored to process requirements. Perform Metal Accounting duties as required on an ad hoc basis.
Promote data adoption and compliance by monitoring standards and supporting users in data utilization. Maintain high standards of data capture, cleaning, verification, and database management.
Ensure ethical handling of personal, public, and confidential data. Prepare clear reports and presentations; meet deadlines consistently.
Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related process field. Preferred specialization in machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large-scale processing plant environment. At least 2 years’ experience in data science or data analytics roles.
Proficiency with data science and ML tools such as Python, R, and TensorFlow. Strong knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques including GLM/regression and random forests.
Experience with simulation and modeling software like JKSimMet or MetSIM is advantageous. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
